The name of the site comes from Matthew Lynn's January 14, 2007 assertion in Bloomberg News:
The iPhone is nothing more than a luxury bauble that will appeal to a few gadget freaks. In terms of its impact on the industry, the iPhone is less relevant.
I host Luxury Bauble at Hurricane Electric, because I've used them for years and they have always been excellent. I build and maintain the site in BBEdit, because I am tired of CMSes and BBEdit makes me happy.
